to the A29 heading out of Palermo, Sicily's west is now more
integrated with the rest of the island than ever Traditionally poor it's
economy depends on fishing, smallscale farming and now tourism. this area
has been influenced by Arabs and Phoenician culture rather then Greek and
Norman of elsewhere Sicly. This area however is more famous for it's
reputation of Mafia activity. You will be driving past 1993 Mafia car
bombing of heroic Magistate Giovanni Falcone and escort , now a monument
area. The area you will be driving by is called golfo di Castellamare , a
stretch of 40 km without industrail devolepment, the gulf offers empty
beaches and small villages. In particular the coastline between the tuna
fishing village Scopello and resort SanVito Lo Capo embraces a big nature
reserve called Zingaro where tracking routes are available to be
discovered.
Arrive
at the thermal bath of Segesta where you have time to relax in a warm
pool where the water reaches the temperature of 40 42 C.The
place is ideal for relaxing among the green surroundings, going on
excursions, visiting rural culture centres and good
eating;
